A stamp that means something. Data that stays yours.
Gpsy only works if stamps are honest, and people only play if they trust us with their location. Here is how both work.
How a check-in is verified
Seven checks, run on your device and again on our server.
- 1
Fresh fix
The GPS reading must be under 2 minutes old.
- 2
Good accuracy
Readings worse than 150 m are rejected and you are asked to try again.
- 3
Inside the radius
You must be within the place's radius plus your reading's accuracy, capped at 100 m. Radius is set per kind of place: 60 m for a restaurant up to 1 km for a huge site.
- 4
No mock locations
Fake-location apps are detected and refused.
- 5
Possible travel only
Moving faster than 120 km/h between stamps sends the stamp to review.
- 6
Daily cap
A maximum of 20 stamps a day.
- 7
One a day per place
Stamping a place twice in 24 hours is refused. XP is paid only for the first verified stamp of a place, ever.
What we collect, and why
Consent is asked per purpose, not in one wall of text. Gpsy is for people aged 18 and over in version one, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
Location
Collected only when you check in or look for places near you, with precise-location consent you can withdraw in Settings. Gpsy does not track you in the background.
Photos
Check-in photos are taken in the app, cropped square and stored without GPS metadata. They are public only if you choose to post them as a review.
Your profile
Private by default. One consent turns on a public profile and the leaderboards. Private and unknown profiles look the same to others.
Contacts
If you use Find friends by contacts, they are read on your phone and are never uploaded.
Safety tools
Report a person, a post or a comment. Block someone and they vanish from your search, lists and profile, both ways.
Your data
Delete your account and data from Settings in the app. See the account deletion page for the steps.
