What is Gpsy?
Gpsy is a city checklist app. You pick a city, work through curated lists of its best places, and check in when you are physically there. The server verifies your location, so every stamp is real. You earn XP, levels and badges, and climb the leaderboards. Version one is Hyderabad only.
Is Gpsy free?
Yes. The whole game is free during the Hyderabad beta: checklists, stamps, XP, badges, leaderboards, the guide and Plan my Saturday.
When can I get it, and on which phones?
Gpsy is in a private beta for Hyderabad, built for both iPhone and Android. Join the waitlist and we will email you when your spot opens. We are letting people in in small batches, starting with the first 500 on the list.
How does Gpsy know I was really there?
Your phone sends a fresh GPS fix when you check in. The server accepts it only if the fix is under two minutes old, accurate to 150 metres or better, and inside the place's radius. It also rejects mock-location apps and impossible travel (faster than 120 km/h), and sends odd cases for review. You get one stamp per place per day.
Can I cheat with a fake GPS app?
Not easily. Mock locations are detected and rejected, and the server checks speed and daily limits. We are also working on device-level attestation for extra protection. A stamp on Gpsy is meant to be worth bragging about.
Does Gpsy track me all the time?
No. Gpsy asks for your precise location only when you check in or look for places near you, and you can withdraw consent at any time in Settings. We do not sell your location, and your profile is private unless you turn on a public profile.
Which places are in the app?
Hand-picked places across seven collections, from Charminar, Golconda and the Qutb Shahi Tombs to Irani cafés, biryani institutions, lakes, markets and nightlife. Every place is confirmed by at least two sources before it goes live. Places are added as we verify them.
What is the difference between a main place and a side quest?
Main places are the icons of the city and count toward your 'X% of Hyderabad' figure. Side quests are the extras worth the detour, like a café, a trek or a market. They are never in the percentage, but they pay +50 bonus XP and unlock their own badges.
Do I earn XP for visiting the same place again?
XP is paid only for the first verified stamp of a place, ever. You can stamp it again after 24 hours for the memory, but there is no extra XP. This keeps the game about exploring, not repeating.
Can I use Gpsy outside Hyderabad?
Not yet. Bengaluru, Mumbai and Pune are on the list and show as Coming soon in the city picker. Hyderabad opens first so we can get it right.
Is it safe for kids?
Gpsy is for people aged 18 and over in version one. Social features include reporting, blocking and hiding, and posts cannot contain links.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, open Settings and choose Delete account. You can also email support@gpsy.app from the address you signed up with. See the account deletion page for the full steps and what gets removed.
What is the Claude part?
Gpsy already builds routes and runs a daily puzzle from our own curated data. We are adding Claude to write fresh riddles and local trivia for each place and to act as a city concierge. It is grounded in our curated place data, so it does not invent places.
