Gpsy started with one itch: you can live in a city for years and still never have seen half of it.
The itch
Everyone knows someone who has lived in Hyderabad for a decade and never been to Golconda. Or who has eaten at the same biryani place for years and never found the one next door. The city is big, and habits are strong.
The idea
Games are very good at making you do things you meant to do anyway. So we made a checklist of the city's best places and turned it into a game: go there, check in, and the server confirms you were really there. XP, badges and leaderboards do the rest.
The name
Gpsy (say it like the word 'gypsy' with the vowels worn off) is a nod to GPS and to wandering. The mascot is a happy lime-green diamond, because exploring should feel good.

- Go outside. The best part of a city happens off the phone. Gpsy is a reason to go, then gets out of the way.
- Earn it. A stamp that anyone can fake is worthless. That is why every check-in is verified on the server.
- Curate, do not dump. A hundred hand-picked places beat ten thousand scraped ones. Every place is confirmed by two sources.
- Privacy by default. Your profile is private until you say otherwise, and location is asked for per purpose.
